Elaine - Legal Assistant and Paralegal

Elaine has been with the firm since July of 1997. She graduated magna cum laude from Central Missouri State University in 1991 with B.S. degrees in Business Administration (General Management and Personnel Administration), scored in the 98th percentile on the Law School Admission Test, and was awarded a scholarship to the University of Missouri Law School. However, she decided to accept employment in the computer software field instead of attending law school, but ultimately returned to the legal arena and obtained her post-graduate paralegal certification in 1997 from Midland's Technical College in Columbia, South Carolina.

Elaine works closely with the lawyers in the firm, assisting them with the design, preparation and implementation of estate plans, corporations, limited liability companies and family limited partnerships. She also supervises client signing conferences and PEPR™ (Personal Estate Plan Review™) meetings with clients. Elaine is married to Mike Asmus, Communications Director with the Missouri Senate and Mayor of Ashland, and has two beautiful stepdaughters, Stephanie and Emily.

The determination of the need for legal services and the choice of a lawyer are extremely important decisions and should not be based solely upon advertisements or self-proclaimed expertise. This disclosure is required by rule of the Supreme Court of Iowa. Memberships and offices in legal fraternities and legal societies, technical and professional licenses, and memberships in scientific, technical and professional associations and societies of law or field of practice do not mean that a lawyer is a specialist or expert in a field of law, nor do they mean that such lawyer is necessarily any more expert or competent than any other lawyer. All potential clients are urged to make their own independent investigation and evaluation of any lawyer being considered. This notice is required by rule of the Supreme Court of Iowa.
